Big Blue Conservation - Specialty Courses

BSAC Marine Conservation Speciality Diving Course is the first of BSAC's ecological minded courses. As divers, we are in the prime position to help our reefs remain the paradise they are today. To help educate and alert divers of the problems affecting the reefs, Big Blue Conservation has helped construct a new speciality supported by BSAC on Marine conservation. As an observational sport, knowing a little more about what you see underwater and improving your buoyancy skills and air consumtion will help influence low-impact diving. The BSAC Marine Conservation Speciality Diving Course Buoyancy workshop - including two buoyancy skills dives. This section will teach you the anticipation of buoyancy problems and the skills to improve your buoyancy in a range of conditions. It also trains you to accomplish the best position for carrying out underwater research. (The certification for this section is an optional 3,700 extra, including 2 dive and Buoyancy Control Certification) Ocean environment - in order to truly understand our aquatic environment, we must first know about the oceans composition and processes as a whole. All our oceans are connected, and one minor change in one ocean can affect the entire ecosystem. Coral Reefs - including marine identification dives and night dive. This is the most rewarding section of the course. You will learn alot more about underwater organism identification, including coral anatomy and biology. After this section, you will get so much more out of your dives. State of the reefs - Our oceans are in a rapid state of decline, and as divers we are in the perfect position to do something about it. But first we need to fully understand what is happening. Conservation - including two ecological monitoring, reef restoration and practical conservation dives. Here you will learn what you can do to contribute to conservation and preservation of our aquatic world. This 4 day, 5 dive course is only 9,000 baht and includes course manual, all dives, equipment and teaching. What do I need to start? Project AWARE Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation which aims to conserve underwater environments through education, advocacy and action. All donations made to Project AWARE help to combat the challenges facing the aquatic environment, such as providing tourist information on minimising their impact, supporting critical beach and underwater clean up events around the world, classrooms and materials for education, other specialist projects such as our Constrcuted Wetland project, and help to set up coral reef monitoring programmes as performed by Big Blue Diving.

Weak buoyancy skills cause a huge amount of accidental damage to marine life. This course is ideal for any diver who wants to improve diving skills and at the same time wants to reduce the risk of them causing accidental damage to the reef. Improving your buoyancy skills means that you can get a closer look at the marine life without worrying about bumping into things. This course also helps improve your underwater photography skills by teaching you how move slower or even stop in the water. Having good buoyancy control also improves your air consumption.

To be an independent diver, it's vital to be able to navigate underwater. Just like on land, underwater navigation is a combination of using natural landmarks and compass work. The SSI Navigation course will teach you how to navigate with a compass and how to apply natural navigation skills. You will also learn how to estimate distances, navigate different search patterns, find your way to different marking points and to get back to the exit point at any time.

The world of diving opens up a completely new fascinating world and the best way to capture your memories is by taking photographs. The Digital Underwater Photography specialty course teaches you about the equipment required, how to take care of equipment, the special considerations about taking photographs underwater and which settings on your camera will take the best shots.
